How would it be if we were able to visualise our memories the moment they are recalling in our minds? Could memory loss medication be replaced with sensory activities?
This interactive installation enables visitors to visualise the creation of recalling memories, by smelling 3 different scents (strawberry, lemon and mint). The stronger the scent (the deeper the breath), the clearer the memory is being shaped in front of them.
The installation could potentially be placed at an amnesia center, addressing visitors who are related with people who suffer from amnesia. The aim of the interaction is to raise awareness, through a playful way, about the importance of the sensory activation for people with memory loss and their ability to recall memories by simply using more their senses.
The interaction is based on creative coding. A breathing sensor has been hidden in the mask, tracking the value of the breathing. By connecting Arduino technology with Projection Mapping, the deeper the breath, the clearer the video will be displayed.
The videos of the creation of the recalling memories have been designed in Cinema 4D. Their movement, shape and colour have been based on real life observations of recalling memories in the human mind.
